What do supermarkets and retail shops need that a restaurant POS lacks?
Retail needs barcode and weighing-scale checkout, shelf-label printing, packaging-unit conversions and supplier purchase orders — none of which a dine-in POS has. MB ALFA handles all of them: scanned and weighed items at the till, printed barcode labels in millimetre-accurate sizes, conversions between cartons, cases and units, and an internally generated EAN-13 for products that arrive unbarcoded.
The two things that most often break a retail rollout are scale integration and packaging units. A weighed-item barcode encodes the price or weight inside the barcode itself, and the till has to decode it. Packaging units matter because you buy a carton and sell a unit.
Multi-branch retail adds a third: stock transfers with an audit trail, so a shortfall can be traced rather than argued about.
